Notice: Due to the fact that our binding sources have (temporarily) become very limited, we are not accepting any new private print projects at this time.
We use several outside vendors to assist with the binding of our special Private Print orders. Due to the ongoing pandemic, these outside vendors have been experiencing periodic closures and are working at a limited capacity.

We will be able to offer our publishing services once things start to get back to normal.

PRE-PRESS WORK:

Printing New Books: New work must be submitted complete and “camera ready”. We prefer new work to be submitted in PDF file format, however we will also work from Word files and printed manuscripts. We apply a standard pre-press fee for preparing a book/file for printing. If there is a need for additional work we will advise you after reviewing the file/book.

Reprinting An Existing Book: When an original book is in delicate condition, we will need to charge for the time it takes to scan the book and format the file so that it’s ready to print. If your book is in great shape and can be easily scanned, we may be able to absorb the cost of scanning when the initial order is for 100 or more copies.

LIBRARIES, & HISTORICAL SOCIETIES:

Do you have a rare and out-of-print genealogy or local history that you would like to have reprinted in order to preserve the original? We take great care in handling your delicate, often disintegrating books and provide archival quality reprints which can be enjoyed for many years to come.

*Sample photo above shows the poor condition of an original copy of 'Sherman's March Through the South' (1865) and the new, archival-quality hardcover reprint which can be enjoyed for many years to come!

Please contact us for details and pricing for Private Printing or Preservation projects.

Charles M. Higgins1516 (1854-1929) is credited as the creator of “Higgins’ American India Ink,” which was, at one time, the most famous brand of ink in the world. Pictured above is a glass bottle that once held the famous formula. Higgins invented his India ink and the also popular “Eternal Black Ink” while experimenting with inks in his sister’s kitchen. The original Higgins’ Ink Company, founded in 1880, was on Eighth Street in Brooklyn, not far from Green-Wood.O

Green-Wood’s famed Minerva statue was commissioned by Higgins in 1920 to commemorate the Battle of Brooklyn of 1776, a historical event Mr. Higgins was passionate about and which, in his opinion, deserved memorialization. The Higgins mausoleum stands directly behind the statue. Click the image to expand.
